An Old Song

An Old Song
The song is really a sweet song and I love the words to it.

 Here are the lyrics:

I Won't Take Less Than Your Love
How much do I owe you?" said the husband to his wife,
"For standing beside me through the hard years of my life.
"Shall I bring you diamonds, shall I buy you furs?
"Say the word and it's yours.

And his wife said: "I won't take less than your love, sweet love.
"No, I won't take less than your love.
"All the riches of the world could never be enough,
"And I won't take less than your love."

"How much do I owe you?" to the mother said the son.
"For all that you have taught me in the days that I was young.
"Shall I bring expensive blankets to cast upon your bed?
"And a pillow for to rest your weary head."

And the mother said: "I won't take less than your love, sweet love.
"No, I won't take less than your love.
"All the comforts of the world could never be enough,
"And I won't take less than your love."

"How much do I owe you?" said the man to his Lord.
"For giving me this day and every day that's gone before.
"Shall I build a temple, shall I make a sacrifice?
"Tell me Lord and I will pay the price."

And the Lord said: "I won't take less than your love, sweet love.
"No, I won't take less than your love.
"All the treasures of the world could never be enough,
"And I won't take less than your love."

"I won't take less than your love, sweet love.
"No, I won't take less than your love.
"All the treasures of the world could never be enough,
"And I won't take less than your love."

"No, I won't take less than your love."

I'll include the video also just because it's such a pretty song.

This scripture is what I had just read the morning I heard this song:

Psa 40:6  Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

Abba reminds us that it is not sacrifices and burnt offerings He desires, it is our love, because when we love Him, He knows that we will honor Him and His ways.  Sacrifices and burnt offerings were given because people had done things that He told them not to do... He would rather have us love Him by doing what He asks than to have to make offerings for our sins.

Great song.

Shalom Traci,
I love old songs like this, they remind me of growing up in the church, some might say that would be a bad thing. Me, I say just look at the lyrics and tell me they are not anointed :)

Today~I found myself singing "On the wings of a snow white dove"~ "HE sent HIS pure sweet love~" "On the wings of a dove" DO YOU KNOW THAT ONE?

I miss you!!!! Thanks for the memories!!!!
Shalom sweet sister,
Moira

I know what you mean. I heard this on a Christian blue grass station the other day and it just made me cry because it's just so sweet. And yes, I do remember On the wings of a snow white dove:) That was a sweet old song we used to sing when I was a kid. Songs like that come to memory for me too, every now and then!

I've been thinking about you and so I guess I'd better call ya pretty soon:)

I love you too!
